Peter Munk

Peter Munk is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Barrick Gold Corporation. A well-known Canadian business leader and philanthropist, Mr. Munk has built several enterprises that have achieved outstanding performances.

Starting in 1983, Mr. Munk and his management team have developed Barrick into one of the world's most successful gold producers. Peter Munk's business strengths are evident in Barrick's sound financial management, entrepreneurial character and solid balance sheet.

Mr. Munk graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1952. Among numerous other public honors, he is a Companion of the Order of Canada, the country's highest honor for a private citizen.

Aaron Regent

Aaron Regent was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation effective Jan. 16, 2009. Mr. Regent is an experienced executive with a wealth of expertise in the mining and finance sectors.

Before joining Barrick, he was Senior Managing Partner of Brookfield Asset Management and Co-CEO of its Infrastructure group. Brookfield is a global asset management company with approximately US$90 billion under management.

Mr. Regent previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of global mining company Falconbridge Ltd. from 2002-2005. Following its merger with Noranda, he was President of the combined company, which had over 14,000 employees and mining operations in 18 countries. Falconbridge was sold to Xstrata in 2006 for C$27 billion, then the largest transaction in mining history.

Early in his career, Mr. Regent progressed swiftly through increasingly senior executive roles. His leadership and strategic experience includes two years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Noranda, prior to joining Falconbridge.

Aaron Regent was born in Ireland and raised in Alberta, Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario before embarking on a business career as a Chartered Accountant.

Peter Kinver

Peter J. Kinver assumed the position of Chief Operating officer on January 1, 2004. He joined Barrick on September 9, 2003 as Executive Vice President, Operations.

Mr. Kinver brings 27 years of international mining experience to Barrick’s senior management team. Prior to Barrick, Mr. Kinver worked for Anglo American Platinum plc in South Africa, where he was responsible for both underground and surface operations for one of the world’s largest platinum operations. Previously, he worked for major mining companies at operations in Mali, Ghana, Oman, England and Namibia.

Mr. Kinver received a B.Sc. (Engineering) from the Royal School of Mines, London in 1976.

Jamie Sokalsky

Jamie C. Sokalsky assumed the responsibilities of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in May 2004, following his promotion from Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position he had held since March 1999.

Mr. Sokalsky joined Barrick as Treasurer in 1993, having spent the previous 10 years in various financial capacities at George Weston Ltd.  He holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Lakehead University, and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1982.

Kelvin Dushnisky

Kelvin Dushnisky assumed the responsibilities of Executive Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs in June 2010. He has global responsibility for the Government Relations, Legal, Permitting, Corporate Responsibility and Communications functions.

Having extensive international experience with project approvals, development agreements and public affairs, Mr. Dushnisky joined Barrick in April 2002 as Director, Regulatory Affairs, and was promoted to Vice President, Regulatory Affairs in January 2003, to Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs in September 2005 and to Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs in November 2007.

Prior to Barrick, Mr. Dushnisky was a Managing Director at Altara Securities Inc. (now part of Manulife Financial). He also served as the Vice Chair, General Counsel and a founding Director of EuroZinc Mining Corporation, a Vice President of Sutton Resources Ltd. (acquired by Barrick) and a Vice President of Rescan Consultants Inc. He has served on the board of directors for a number of publicly listed companies.

Mr. Dushnisky holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) degree from the University of Manitoba and M.Sc. and J.D. degrees from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association and a Director of the Mining Association of Canada, the Institute of the Americas, the Canadian Council of the Americas and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Sybil Veenman

Sybil Veenman was appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel in June 2010. She had been Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Secretary since Sept. 2008.

She joined Barrick in 1994, and has played a key role in the Legal function worldwide, leading or supporting Barrick’s various financings, business transactions and regulatory compliance initiatives. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing Barrick’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies across the company.

Previously, she was with Lac Minerals Ltd., and was in private practice for seven years with the law firm of Fasken Campbell Godfrey where she specialized in Securities and Mergers and Acquisitions. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1989.

Don Ritz

Safety & Leadership

Don Ritz was appointed Senior Vice President Safety and Leadership in July 2009. In this role, he is responsible for establishing systems to improve Barrick’s safety performance, as well as processes to support global talent management, leadership development, and succession planning. He was previously Barrick’s Vice President Safety and Health, and has led a significant improvement in the company’s safety record worldwide since 2003.

Before joining Barrick, he was Loss Management Executive at Syncrude Canada Ltd., where he achieved one of the best records for industrial health, safety and environmental performance among Canadian industrial firms. The majority of his career at Syncrude was spent in operating roles before taking on the Loss Management position. Prior to Syncrude, he served 11 years with Texaco Canada Ltd.

Don Ritz is a frequent guest speaker at mining and industry conferences on the topics of safety and leadership. He was awarded the prestigious Leadership Award from the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals in 2009. He has served on numerous safety committees and advisory boards, including as Vice Chairman of the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Board of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta. He is a graduate of the Operations Management Program at the University of Western Ontario School of Business Administration as well as the Executive Development Program, Texas A&M University.

Rob Krcmarov

Global Exploration

Rob Krcmarov is Senior Vice President, Global Exploration, with responsibility for Barrick’s exploration activities worldwide. With more than 20 years of experience in geology and exploration, he leads a team of 130 geoscientists exploring in more than 12 countries. He also works closely with the Corporate Development Group to assess assets and help the company replace and grow reserves and resources.

Early in his career, he worked extensively in Australia, Chile and Peru with Homestake Mining, which was acquired by Barrick in 2001. At that time, he was appointed Barrick’s General Manager Exploration for Australia, and subsequently took on responsibility for exploration in Africa and Asia before becoming Vice President Global Exploration in 2005.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree from the University of Adelaide and a Master’s degree in Economic Geology from the University of Tasmania. He is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Society of Economic Geologists Foundation. He is also an active member of several major professional associations, including the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).

Rick McCreary

Rick McCreary was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Development of Barrick Gold Corporation, effective April 26, 2011. He has overall responsibility for Barrick's global Corporate Development activities, including Corporate Development, Evaluations and Special Projects.

Before joining Barrick, he worked in mining investment banking for over fourteen years culminating as Head of CIBC World Markets’ Global Mining investment banking group. During his tenure at CIBC, Mr. McCreary advised companies involved in some of the world’s largest mining transactions, including Placer Dome, Goldcorp, Kinross, Falconbridge, Rio Tinto, and BHP Billiton. In advance of his work experience in mining investment banking, he worked in the Noranda/Falconbridge organization for eight years in various areas, including metals marketing, geophysics, geological engineering and technology development.

Mr. McCreary holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategy from McGill University, and a M.Sc. and B.Sc.Eng.Hons in Geological Engineering from Queen's University.

Ivan Mullany

Capital Projects

Ivan Mullany was appointed Senior Vice President, Capital Projects in August 2011. The global Capital Projects group, in partnership with the regional business units, is responsible for developing Barrick’s project pipeline on budget and on schedule in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Mr. Mullany has 30 years of experience in the mining industry, including leadership roles in large firms such as Iron Ore Company Canada (Rio Tinto) and Emperor Mines Limited. He has worked around the globe, including stints in Australia, Fiji, France and Canada.

He joined Barrick in 2004 as Manager, Metallurgy and Process Development, and served as the metallurgical lead for annual Life-of-Mine planning, the Placer Dome acquisition, and the Pueblo Viejo feasibility study. In 2008, he became Senior Director Metallurgy and Process Development, and was promoted to Vice President in 2009. Since 2009, he has led the Operations Support group, coordinating the technical specialists and global standards needed to help operations reach a high level of performance.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM) and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CIMM). He is a graduate of the Extractive Metallurgy program at Murdoch University, and has undertaken graduate diploma studies in Mining as well as Applied Finance and Investment.
