Barrick's Pascua-Lama project is under construction in the Andes mountains on the border of Chile and Argentina. Pascua-Lama’s location near ice bodies has been the subject of genuine interest and considerable distortion. Barrick will not mine on or under glaciers.

Barrick's Atacama Commitment featured on CNBC Responsible Business TV
The Atacama Commitment saw Barrick Gold partner with eight NGOs and state agencies in Chile to improve housing conditions, education, health and socio-economic development.
The first phase of the Atacama Commitment initiative will benefit more than 6,000 of the region's most vulnerable people. Partners include Un Techo Para Chile, America Solidaria, Class21, Teleton, the UN Global Compact, CORFO and FOSIS.
