Bulyanhulu
The Bulyanhulu mine is located in northwest Tanzania, East Africa, approximately 55 kilometres south of Lake Victoria and approximately 150 kilometres from the city of Mwanza.
Bulyanhulu is an underground trackless operation that uses long-hole and drift-and-fill as its principal stoping methods. Ore reserves are accessed via a surface shaft and an internal ramp system. The processing plant consists of a crushing and grinding circuit, a copper/gold/silver flotation circuit, a tailings thickening/filtration circuit and a tailings storage facility.
In 2008, the mine produced 200,000 ounces of gold at total cash costs of $620 per ounce1.At December 31, 2008, Bulyanhulu had 12 million ounces of proven and probable gold reserves2.
