Reko Diq
Reko Diq is a large copper-gold porphyry mineral deposit on the Tethyan belt, located in southwest Pakistan in the province of Balochistan in which we hold a 37.5% interest. A pre-feasibility study was completed in third quarter 2009. Work on a full feasibility study has commenced and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2010. We are reviewing alternatives to optimize the funding structure for this project to mitigate geo-political risks associated with the project. Barrick’s share of measured and indicated and inferred resources are 8.5 million ounces1 and 8.4 million ounces1 of gold, respectively and its share of measured and indicated and inferred copper resources are 11.5 and 8.5 billion pounds1 respectively.
