Buzwagi is located in north-west Tanzania in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region, approximately 97 km from Bulyanhulu and 6 km southeast from the town of Kahama.

Buzwagi commenced commercial production in 2009 and has produced over 1 million ounces to date. The mill is solely processing stockpiles until mid-2021.

The operation previously mined a low grade shear-hosted quartz-veined deposit, hosted in porphyritic granite. The process plant is designed with a throughput capacity of 4.4 million tonnes per annum producing gold doré.
