Peter Munk was a visionary and Canadian business icon whose energy, passion, and purpose propelled Barrick from a little-known gold play into the world’s largest gold miner in just 25 years. He was also a remarkably charismatic and compelling individual. His speeches at Barrick’s annual meetings were legendary, and those lucky enough to have spent time with him, even just a few minutes, invariably came away captivated by this most magnetic and engaging of men. This charm and charisma never dimmed.
Today, on the two-month anniversary of his death, we share this tribute to our Founder, which offers a glimpse of life at Barrick in its early years, and includes excerpts from one of Peter Munk’s last audio interviews.
