President Bush was an inaugural member of Barrick’s International Advisory Board

Barrick Founder Peter Munk, former U.S. President George H. W. Bush, civil rights leader Vernon Jordan, and former Bundesbank President Karl Otto Pöhl visit Barrick’s Goldstrike mine, in Elko, Nevada, September 1996.
President Bush was a giant of our time. He was a champion for peace who devoted his life to the service of his country. He was also a trusted friend and advisor to Barrick. In 1995, when the Company was preparing to embark on its first major international expansion, President Bush became an inaugural member of Barrick’s International Advisory Board. His astute counsel and insight helped the Company to realize its global ambitions. President Bush traveled to the Goldstrike mine in Nevada in 1996, where stories and photos of his visit still abound.
We offer our profound condolences to the entire Bush family as we join them in celebrating the life and memory of a great man, President George H. W. Bush.
